Japanese Tea Ceremony – Japanese tea culture
The Japanese tea ceremony is a multifaceted traditional activity based on Taoism (Daoism) and influenced by Zen Buddhism, in which powdered green tea, or matcha, is ceremonially prepared and served to others.
Meetings are convened for chanoyu Chaka (literally "tea meeting") or Chajá (literally "tea function"). In general, the term chaka is used to describe a relatively simple way of hospitality that includes the distribution of sweets, usucha (tea light) and maybe Tenshin (a sandwich), while the term refers to a more formal course Chajá hospitality including kaiseki (a special type of courses and surnames), confectionery, koicha (tea thick), and usucha (light tea). A screamer can last up to four hours.
A tea practitioner should strive to be well informed, if not an expert in wide range of disciplines and traditional arts chanoyu integral part – for example, production and types of tea, kimono, calligraphy, flower arranging, ceramics, and incense – in addition to tea school practices. For this reason, the study of tea ceremony is virtually endless.Even to participate as invited a formal tea ceremony requires knowledge of the prescribed gestures and phrases, the proper way to take tea and sweets, and perform in the lounge General tea.
The Japanese tea ceremony is a traditional ritual based on Taoism (Daoism) and influenced by Zen Buddhism in which powdered green tea, or matcha, is ceremonially prepared by a skilled practitioner and served to a small group of people in a quiet environment. Screamer is a comprehensive presentation of tea with meals. As in almost all tea ceremonies, the host can take days minutiae that go to ensure that the ceremony will be perfect. Over tea, recognizes that every human encounter is a unique opportunity that can and be repeated exactly. Therefore, every aspect of tea must be savored for what gives participants.
Chanoyu which means "hot water for tea" refers to a unique ceremony involving tea, while the longer version Chajá meeting known as tea "implies a full tea ceremony in which a light meal is served, and may last up to four hours. Customers participating in the ritual should also be aware of good conduct for the use of certain phrases and actions necessary to preserve the integrity of the ceremony.
If the tea is served in a tea room guests will be first shown to a waiting room called Machias, which is usually a separate structure, as a single viewpoint. After being summoned by the host, which are purified by washing the mouth and hands with water a stone basin known as Tsukubai, then go through the garden of the teahouse. Removing shoes, pass through a small sliding door that only thirty-six inches tall, symbolizing that all who enter are equal in size, regardless of their status or social position. The rooms undecorated except of Scroll Painting called kakemono, who was selected by the host and reveals the theme of the ceremony. The Buddhist scriptures on parchment called bokuseki (ink traces) and is admired by all guests aa turn before being seated seiza style on the tatami.
If a meal is served to each customer shall host small sweets eaten on special paper called Kaishi, where each person has a design portfolio back within the kimono.
