The classic beauty of mechanical wrist watch
Classic, from the literal meaning, it can be understood as solid, non-random changes in the standard or model. Any thing withstand the ordeal of time can be called classic. The classic beauty of a mechanical wrist watch, is not that expensive material, nor the dazzling diamond-studded glory, not even the complex functions like a dazzle.
Classic called as a beauty, often means that it’s experienced ordeal. In 1965, the Japanese invented the quartz watch, the Swiss watch industry was plunged into an unprecedented crisis. The cost of quartz watches is extremely cheap, and the time is more accurate than any expensive mechanical watches. Swiss watch industry was so defeated, many of the traditional mechanical watch brands went bankrupt, the Swiss watch industry reached the edge of extinction.
Quartz watch set off a wave sweeping in the world, but, when it really started to spread, people began to miss the chain ticking sound of mechanical watch, and the fun of hand. Just like the Leica camera and vinyl records, classic or not, need to compare with the alternatives. As a result, people explore the different beauty of quartz watch from mechanical watch which the seemingly obsolete machinery and behind the times. Though always need maintenance, not so perfect, wearing the watch has become the most fun.
The worth pondering is that, although the Japanese invented the quartz watch, but nowadays, they are still particular favorite on the handmade Swiss watch, nearly two thirds of orders of many independent Swiss watch producers are from the Japanese.
