Best way to remove the rubber cement antiques?
Recently I found an old musical instrument (in Boxwood w / accents ivory) and pieces of rubber cement! I would like to remove the pieces of wood glued fuel minerals that may dip? or something that will not harm the wood or ivory. Note that this instrument is about 150 years and need to find the sweet with the problem. Thanks! All that softens the rubber cement will also attack any finish as shown. could be a hair dryer to see if the cement is smooth enough to work the parties. If it is rubber cement, must be able to use a bit of friction w / fingers to rub as you would if you get on your hands. If this does not work. can try a bit of baby oil and develop w / fingers and rags. It is actually good for ivory. It might darken the wood first in order to give a massage in all light things even. It may take some time, but the best wood to soften. about
